You are tired, but your mind won’t stop. Replaying a conversation. Worrying about something you cannot control. Trying to think your way out of feeling overwhelmed.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.
Overthinking is something I hear from clients all the time, especially those who look “fine” on the outside, but feel mentally exhausted.
What Overthinking Is
It’s not just thinking too much. It’s thinking in loops. The same worries, what-ifs, and second-guessing playing on repeat.Often, it sounds like:
“Why did I say that?”
“What if something goes wrong?”
“I should have handled that differently.”
This is the mind trying to help, even when it hurts. For many, overthinking is a coping mechanism for deeper feelings such as anxiety, fear, uncertainty, or the need to stay in control.
Why It Happens
Your brain isn’t broken. It’s working overtime, often from a place of protection.
Overthinking can come from:
High-functioning anxiety
Perfectionism
People-pleasing
Avoiding difficult emotions
Unfortunately, overthinking doesn’t make things better, it just wears you out.
What We Do in Therapy
Therapy is not about “fixing” your mind, but it will help you:
Understand the patterns that drives the noise
Learn how to listen differently
Create space between thought and reaction
Build a calmer internal world
We don’t force your mind to be quiet, we help it soften.
You are More Than Your Thoughts.
If your head feels full all the time, if you can’t switch off, you don’t have to keep carrying it alone. There is a way to slow things down, and it starts with a conversation. You bring the thoughts, I’ll help you find the quiet in between.
